Gamble Fish

Gamble with your life on the line. Gamble Fish is a manga for those who like pieces such as Death Note and Detective Conan. At first, I hesitated to read this manga because I thought that the story line would be all about board games. However, I was mistaken as the plot included all sorts of games with Tomu Shirasagi, the main character, even willing to bet his life.

Tomu came from an infamous gambling clan named Shirasagi. He enters the elite and posh Shishidou Academy to search for his missing father and to retrieve his family's seal worth ten billion yen. He starts to challenge and accept the invitation of anyone willing to play with him to raise the money needed to get back his family seal from the hands of the Shishidou clan.

During his stay in the academy, he meets both friends and foes. Abidani, the dormitory head and instructor of the delinquent seminar became his fiercest enemy. The man would routinely set up games with Tomu and his delinquent students. Games featured in the manga include card, dice, coin, billiards and even a race with the characters sometimes betting a part of their body or their lives.

The art is fine and the plot is interesting but it could be boring sometimes given the lack of action in the story. The characters are well-developed and presented.
Just a note, this manga is not for kids as it shows some obscenity and foul language.
