I thought I should start posting about even one manga tonight, so here it is.
I don't remember when I started reading this manga but it was most likely last year. Samurai themed manga like Gamaran is just my type. Set during the Edo period in Japan, Gama Kurogane (left picture) is a samurai using the Ogame Ryu style. Gama's character and strength will develop drastically throughout the story together with other interesting characters from the same school. They are bound to clash with the legendary thousand-man slayer, who once destroyed the Ogame Ryu school, in the latter half of the manga.
Fierce and violent, the mangaka doesn't hesitate to fill the pages with blood. Art and plot are some of the strength of the manga while it can still improve on pacing.
I can't compare Samurai X with this one because that I watched, not read. Moreover, Gamaran's protagonist is an underdog from the start which places the manga in a different light than the story of the legendary Battousai.
My favorite characters include Sengoku Iori (right picture) and Kashitarou (left picture, bottom part) both from the Ogame school.
Rating: 8.5
